Karishma & Hemal | A Bespoke Bridal Lehenga & Chikankari Sherwani for a Hindu Wedding Ceremony | Sherni London
When Karishma and Hemal came to Sherni London, they placed their trust in us completely - commissioning three bespoke outfits in total across their wedding day and evening reception. It was a privilege we did not take lightly.
For their Hindu wedding ceremony at the Oshwal Centre, Potters Bar, the vision was clear: two outfits that felt harmonious, considered and entirely worthy of the occasion.
Karishma came to us with a few design ideas and a strong instinct for what she wanted her bridal lehenga to feel like. Together we developed those ideas into a fully realised bespoke bridal ensemble - ivory, luminous and richly detailed.
The lehenga was embroidered throughout entirely by hand, with beads, sequins and pearls worked across the fabric with couture-level precision. Gold borders and highlights were introduced throughout, adding warmth and definition to the overall look. The result was a piece that caught the light beautifully and felt, in Karishma's own words, fit for a princess.
For her ceremony, Karishma wore a red dupatta — a deeply traditional choice that sat strikingly against the ivory of her lehenga and grounded the look in the beauty of Hindu bridal tradition.
For Hemal, we created a bespoke ivory chikankari sherwani with gold hand-embroidered detailing. The decision to work in chikankari was a deliberate one - its delicate, tonal threadwork is elegant and refined, and complemented Karishma's heavily embellished lehenga without competing with it. The two outfits spoke to one another beautifully, creating a sense of quiet harmony between bride and groom.
At Sherni London, designing coordinated bridal and groom outfits is one of the most rewarding things we do. Getting that balance right - ensuring each outfit is complete and considered in its own right, while feeling effortlessly connected to the other - requires experience, a careful eye and a deep understanding of fabric, embellishment and proportion.
On the day, the reaction said everything. Karishma told us:
"For the wedding day I absolutely loved my outfit. I got so many compliments from everyone saying I looked like a princess and they loved the gold and sparkles. Hemal's outfit was amazing too and totally complimented mine."
