A Bespoke Red Lehenga for a Winter Wedding

Some brides know exactly what they want. Miya was one of them.

Married just days after Christmas, Miya was planning a fusion wedding and came to Sherni London with a clear aesthetic in mind - something refined and pared back, but with the couture-level craftsmanship and quality to match the occasion. A true red lehenga. Elegant, considered and quietly stunning.

From her very first appointment at our London bridal boutique, we approached this as we do every piece - with care and complete attention to detail. Over twenty individual measurements were taken to ensure the fit would be precise from the outset. Miya also brought along a handful of reference images - rough in their way, but enough to give us a strong sense of her vision. At Sherni London, that is often all we need.

Because time allowed, we had a fabric swatch made before committing to production - giving Miya the chance to see the antique gold hand embroidery against the rich red raw silk in person. It is the kind of step that defines a truly personalised bridal lehenga consultation. When it arrived, it was exactly right.

With a less heavily embroidered piece, the fabric becomes the statement - which means the standard of finishing must be exceptional. Raw silk is beautiful and we were meticulous with the fabric at every stage. The hem embroidery was measured precisely for placement and height. The dupatta - organza, with hand-embroidered borders - was considered with the same level of care. Even the positioning of fastenings was discussed and decided with intention. This is the Sherni London approach: every detail, considered.

All embroidery was worked entirely by hand by our skilled artisans - the hallmark of true handmade Indian bridal wear.

When Miya came in for her fitting, the lehenga fit beautifully. She was so happy with it, she didn't want to take it off.

On the day, she looked stunning. Regal, radiant and entirely herself.

We are still in touch with Miya now. She tells us how much she loved her bespoke bridal lehenga and how happy she was with the experience - and that, more than anything, is what this work is about.
